Adult Day Services

Adult Day Services are available to individuals over the age of 16. These services provide educational opportunities and other important skill development for individuals with developmental disabilities. Van Wert County has a variety of qualified Adult Day Service providers available to meet an individual’s specific needs. A Service and Support Administrator from the County Board will assist each person in assessing their needs, setting goals and accessing services.

Adult Day Services (ADS), designed to strengthen a person’s quality of life, may be provided in various settings and can include social, leisure and recreational activities. Available services include:

• Personal care
• Self-determination training
• Fitness and wellness training
• Volunteering
• Community inclusion.

Providers are certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Services are tailored to meet the desired outcomes identified in a person’s Individual Service Plan. Service and Support Administrators will assist each person in selecting the best provider for their needs.

Vocational Training

Adult Day Service providers may also provide vocational training. Training can assist in enhancing work related skills such as attendance, responsibility, task completion, problem solving, social interaction and work place safety.

Transportation Options

Transportation is available to those receiving Adult Day Services.

Adult Day Services are available at no cost to the individual. The County Board funds services for individuals not eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid funds Adult Day Services for those enrolled on a Medicaid Waiver. The County Board provides 40% of the funding for these Waiver services.
